What Does a Dumpy Moreno Valley Foreclosure Listing and Juan Valdez Have in Common?

This house is a dump. I’m not even sure why I posted the video. Then I remembered Juan Valdez?  Do you remember this fictional Colombian coffee farmer created in 1959 to help peddle coffee?

Bear with me here …

48 years after Juan Valdez some guy named Charles Prince (not related to Prince Charles) led Citigroup to a record loss of $9.83 billion dollars by writing off $23.2 billion in bad real estate loans.

So what do they have in common?  A dump only an investor could love.

See, Colombian coffee farmer Juan Valdez’s namesake sold this house in March of 2006 for $375K. Less than a year later Citigroup Global Markets Realty, part of the aforementioned $23.2 billion dollar loss, foreclosed on the house.

Scientist notate the speed of light with the letter C.  Seems to me Citigroup, symbolized on Wall Street by the letter C, lost money through bonehead loans like the one on this house at the same rate.

Take a look and let me know what you think.
